Mallet-Stevens designed not just the structure but the interiors, the furniture, the gardens, and the smallest fixtures, treating the whole as a unified work. For decades after the Cavrois family left, the villa fell into serious disrepair and was subject to vandalism and stripping. Its rescue, led by the Centre des monuments nationaux following acquisition by the French state in 2001, took years of painstaking restoration work before the house reopened to the public in 2015.
